Undressing Flowers Workshop at Casa Daros / Taller Desnudando Flores
As part of the educational program of the Museum of Copulatory Organs and Casa Daros, this workshop was directed to art students in Rio de Janeiro for a period of 4 days. We ripped up the petals of the flowers and focused on observing the reproductive morphologies of plants, using magnifying glasses and microscopes. We made drawings and clay models. The focus is on close and focus observation, enhanced by the having to translate our observations in two and three dimensions. This workshop is inspired by the Sexual System of Classification created by Karl Linnaeus, the father of taxonomy, in 1735.
