"For me, painting is the act of moving fluids around to create electromagnetic vibrations or images. Although abstract shapes, forms, colour, and lines can exist without any reference to the outside world, our brain will seek patterns and meanings in them no matter what. By Painting Drawings and Drawing Paintings I am inventing a hybrid artform: one that draws and paints simultaneously, using line (the art of drawing), and fluids (the art of painting).

Ripples

Drawing Painting concentric circles and spirals make reference to fluid mechanics behaviours, like the ripples on a pond. Concentric circles form around a disturbance. The disturbance travels and dissipates at the same time as mixing with other disturbances and creating more complex patterns. The patterns are aesthetically engaging.

Droplets

Fluids tend to concentrate around themselves. They are round and are held by electromagnetic forces. Mini droplets form around the line I draw-paint, the same way dew will form on a spiderweb silk thread. Such detail fascinates me, and I want to magnify it, to make visible something so small and beautiful.

This series of paintings is preliminary to Ripples and Droplets, a mural integrated into a new building designed by acclaimed architect Angelo Candalepas. The mural stands 11 stories high and covers 335 square metres, and is believed to be the largest public artwork by an Australian artist in the Sydney CBD."
