“ISC is pleased to present, Voices on Community Through Time and Space, a series of monthly virtual encounters designed to inspire, inform, and bring communities together. Through this program, ISC is creating the space for dialogue around current trends, events, issues, topics, and adaptability of the contemporary sculpture community.
Panel: Innovation and Inspiration
Science and technology are reinventing art in extraordinarily new ways. Where would Monet or Renoir be without the discovery of portable paint tubes so they could go outdoors and paint? Who would have heard of Warhol without silkscreen printing? Or will we celebrate Kapoor without laser scanning, 3D printing, sculptural engineering and even material sciences? The truth is that science and technology have provided artists with new ways to express themselves for a very long time. The STEAM drivers (Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering and Mathematics) add new dimensions to new works of art, especially in sculptures. The results are incredible and ambitious artworks communicating to the world that nothing is impossible.”
